Srinithi shares the skills she learned by participating in CyberStart America and her plans for the future.

What have you enjoyed about CyberStart America?

I enjoyed how the challenges followed a theme and how it challenged me to think outside of the box.

How do you feel about becoming a Scholar?

I am shocked and so thankful! I had the biggest smile on my face when I saw my name on the list of winners.

How do you think CyberStart has helped you prepare for future studies or a potential career in cybersecurity?

I think CyberStart America was able to give me a great view on how cybersecurity works and has absolutely helped me when I code and program on my own, pushing me to think in a different way than I would have before.

It taught me how to think like a hacker, which is to say to think outside of the box. It showed me how to work with systems like Linux and other software that cybersecurity officials use.

Before the NCSF/CyberStart program, were you considering a career in cybersecurity?

I hadn't considered a career in cybersecurity. I didn't know much about the field and felt that I did not have much experience, and it was better suited for others.

Since participating in this year’s NCSF/CyberStart program, are you now considering a career in cybersecurity?

Yes! I would love to one day work at the CDSE.

Would you recommend CyberStart America to a friend?

I would absolutely share this with my friends as I have learned so much from playing CyberStart, and it was so fun!! There were times were I would choose to do this over hanging out with my friends or watching a movie because I just loved how fun and interesting it was.

Any other comments?

I can’t even describe how much fun I had playing and learning from CyberStart. I often feel like computer science can sometimes be taught or described simpler than it is just because I am younger, but CyberStart pushed my limits and help me grow.
