The CyberStart America program earns iKeepSafe FERPA privacy certification
iKeepSafe has awarded a FERPA privacy certification to the National Cyber Scholarship Foundation’s CyberStart America program.
iKeepSafe's FERPA certification is the first independent assessment program for the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. The program seeks to help educators and parents identify edtech services and tools that protect student data privacy.
"We congratulate CyberStart America on demonstrating their commitment to privacy by obtaining the iKeepSafe FERPA badge. Schools are increasingly relying on independent, third-party reviews of technology companies to determine the quality of their privacy and safety practices. They can now feel confident that CyberStart America meets iKeepSafe's standard of quality in this area."
Amber Lindsay, Vice President of iKeepSafe
CyberStart America is a free national program for high school students to master cybersecurity as a gateway to the industry, up their digital skills, and compete for college scholarships through the National Cyber Scholarship Foundation. By registering for the program, U.S. high school students get free access to CyberStart, an immersive gamified learning platform.
“As a provider of cybersecurity education programs, we practice what we preach and the security of our program users’ data is of the highest importance to us. We’re delighted to have been awarded the FERPA privacy badge by iKeepSafe to help users and educators feel reassured of student safety when registering to use the CyberStart platform.”
Jennifer Esposito, Head of Operations for the National Cyber Scholarship Foundation
Products participating in the iKeepSafe FERPA assessment must undergo annual re-evaluation to continue displaying the iKeepSafe FERPA badge. For the evaluation, an independent privacy expert reviewed the CyberStart America program, its privacy policy and practices, as well as its data security practices.
